Our commitments
Philanthropic commitments
One of Place Alexis Nihon’s main objectives is to play an important role in the community through charitable work, and the name of the Complex is often associated with important causes. More specifically, Place Alexis Nihon supports:
The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation
The Montreal Children’s Hospital (the Children’s) is the paediatric teaching institution of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), affiliated with McGill University. The Children’s is a leading provider of a broad range of services for infants, children and adolescents throughout Quebec. The Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation is currently conducting its Best Care for Children Campaign, which aims to raise $100 million to build the new Montreal Children’s Hospital, the construction of which began in 2010 on the Glen campus. Since 2009, Place Alexis Nihon has supported the construction of the new hospital through various fundraising activities. It has also created the Souriez don event, which is held every year at the shopping centre during the holiday season. All the money raised goes to the Children’s Foundation. Since the first edition of the Souriez don campaign in 2009, more than $ 130,000 were donated to the Children’s Foundation.
The Dawson College Foundation
The Dawson College Foundation, established in 2006, aims primarily to support the development of initiatives to promote the well-being of students and thus help them succeed in their studies. As an ardent supporter of this cause, Place Alexis Nihon has been the main sponsor of the Foundation’s annual golf tournament since 2007.
Place Alexis Nihon is continuing its social commitment to Dawson College by offering two annual scholarships valued at $750 to the students who have demonstrated academic excellence while completing their college education. Place Alexis Nihon hopes to contribute to the success of tomorrow’s workforce.
Spontaneous support
Place Alexis Nihon defines itself as a large community that extends a daily welcome to the 38,000 people who work, shop and live there. The management team of the Complex is always open to spontaneousrequests for financial assistance. A number of non-profit agencies, associations and groups receive contributions that help them to develop and thrive. In this way, Place Alexis Nihon fulfils the social mandate it has assumed: to invest in the community.
